KAT'S CORNER: Staying Motivated by Finding and Living Your WHY

If you don’t know why you do what you do, you can’t expect someone else to know or depend on those closest to you to tell you.

KAT'S CORNER: Staying Motivated by Finding and Living Your WHY

My favorite quote from inspirational speaker Simon Sinek is this:

“All know what they do; some know how they do it; few know why they do what they do”.

I love it because it compels you to pause and take inventory of where you are in life. Are you accomplishing all those ambitious goals your younger self spouted you’d do when you grow up?

Whether you are a solopreneur or an entrepreneur, you’ve “crossed that bridge” and know that sheer willpower is not enough to keep you going when you’re losing steam and not getting enough traction. When giving up seems like the only option, that’s when you must dig deep and find your WHY. Remember, a strong "why" statement will resonate deep within and will help keep you moving in the right direction (even if you’re keeping pace with a sloth).

A strong Why statement will surprise you as it unearths those dormant skills you may not have realized you had. It will stabilize you as you discover the ways you impact and serve others. Simon says everyone has a Why. Do you believe him? Are you willing to invest time in yourself to find out? If you don’t know why you do what you do, you can’t expect someone else to know or depend on those closest to you to tell you. Those who are clear on their Why are the ones with the ‘Rags to Riches’ success stories we love to read about and share on our Facebook and Instagram feeds.

At this point, I’m sure many of you have at least one of Simon’s books on your bookshelves and hopefully, it’s not collecting dust. If you can’t clearly articulate your Why, then today is a good day to crack open the book and begin outlining your Why statement. As you begin expressing your unique contributions to the world, you’ll begin to see the positive impact it has on others.

I’ll leave you with one more nugget of wisdom from Simon. “When a Why is clear, those who share that belief will be drawn to it and maybe want to take part in bringing it to life”. So, here’s your call to action. Carve out some time to think and write a strong Why statement. Now, some personal encouragement from me. Be confident as you unleash your inner power to help others feel fulfilled, inspired, and empowered.
